Our Lady of the Snows Lay Carmelite Community is a ministry of St. Paul the Apostle Parish. Lay Carmelite Communities in Maine belong to the Province of St. Elias, based at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Middletown, NY.
Our Community meets monthly at St. John’s Church Hall on the second Saturday of the month. Meetings run from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Guests are always welcome.
Lay Carmelites, also known as Third Order Carmelites, are men and women who live “in the world” and share in the mission of the Carmelite Order. The call to Carmel is a call to seek God’s will in the ordinary circumstances of everyday life through prayer, community, and service. Lay Carmelites pray the Liturgy of the Hours daily, which is the highest form of prayer after the Mass.
Any parishioner desiring to seek a deeper prayer life through the Carmelite tradition, we encourage to seek more information.
