If you were to walk into the St. John’s Church Hall on the 3rd Friday of the month, you would see a buzz of activity as sewing machines whirr, conversations abound, and pieces of colorful fabric become soft, warm blankets. What you would witness would be our monthly gathering to sew, knit, or crochet in community for Project Linus, a nationwide non-profit which provides new handmade blankets to children in need.
We meet from 9:00 a.m to 1:00 p.m. Participation is not limited by age or gender, and all levels of ability are welcome. Those who sew bring their machine if they are able. Sometimes we have fabric donated to us and we can make up kits to sew. A project of the month is usually offered, but at any time participants can work on their own individual sewn, knit, or crochet project.
Project Linus is an opportunity to work as a group and as individuals toward the common goal of providing “security through blankets.”
